Tuesday DIY #4

Home Made Stamp
for cheap

Finishing Touches to
DIY Chalkboard

Materials:
Foam Sheet
X-acto knife
Glue
Some sort of wood backing
(I went with my LOVE heart. I have used the tiny wooden letters before)
Optional:
Letters for guidance

1. Make sure whatever you will glue your foam stamp to is completely clean. Unlike my little barcode heart here.

2.If needed, trace or measure the space for your foam stamp.

3. Now draw your stamp.

4. Cut it all out! You may want to trace it all out if you had a shape--- be smarter than me!

5. Now glue it all down.

6. If you used a clear dry glue, or traced the whole thing out then just let dry and you are done!

7. If not... then just let dry and grab like paint!

8. Let dry (again, jeeze am i smart). And NOW you are DONE!

Chalkboard Time!

I love finding things that make everything easy-
like the frame stand below that needs no gluing
or any real DYI-ing.

But lets me put on the magnets
that came with the dollar whiteboard.
YEY!

Oh the lovelies of the day!

(This is my luv-o's birthday week ^_^)

Tuesday DIY #3

Dollar Tree Chalkboard
Pt 1
Via
Love chalkboards. Especially the standing kind above.
But they are pretty expensive and I only had room for tiny ones.

Thus I took myself to the Dollar Tree Store to see if I
could make a very low budget tiny topper for my nightstand.

The results:

Dollar Tree Materials:
Chalk (not pictured, small pack of 4)
Sponge Brush
Brush
Dry Erase Board

Other Materials:
Chalkboard Paint
(I used Martha Stewart's brand)

Step 1:
Use the sponge brush or regular brush to coat on the first coat. It will look very light but don't worry about that right now.

Step 2:
Let dry for an hour or as directed on your chalkboard paint bottle.

Step 3:
Apply second coat with finger to create a smoother effect (optional gloves if you don't want black paint all over your finger.) TIP Put small drops around the board and then smooth over the drops. It is easier than putting one big blob.

Step 4: Let dry for 24 hours. Test if dry with finger (not fingernail- it will leave a white indent if it is not dry).

Step 5: Curate with chalk. Lightly roll chalk on its side across your new chalkboard. Do not press. Then let sit for an extra day.

Enjoy your new little chalkboard!
Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday DIY #2

There are little words for loss.
For this Tuesday the DIY is to
just make yourself good company-
to love and remind you
of what one should live for.

Needed: The things you care about.

Instructions: Remember, enjoy, and cherish.

Happy Tuesday everyone,
Zuley

Tuesday DIY #1

DIY Shirts
With Kids
via
The above photo was kind of the inspiration for this little DIY to settle down the monsters that were wreaking havoc.

What's Needed:
Fabric Paint
Shirts/Sweaters
Pencil/chalk/fabric pen
Scissors
Brushes
Cup with water
Recyclable plate
Cardboard
Pattern(s) of image(s) desired
(We used a pattern given from the
inspiration site in the image above)

Gather all your materials.
I used soft fabric paint by the way.

Find images or patterns you would like.
Make sure to insert the piece of cardboard inside of your
shirt/sweater so the paint does not bleed through.

Once you have decided on an image, cut your image and trace
with pencil or chalk lightly- I used a colored fabric pen.
You may also choose to freehand your image.

Let the kids do their own tracing or freehand.
It gets their creative juices flowing and makes them
all the more proud of their final product.

Once your outline is done its tie to begin painting!

And the final products....

Because we all love doing crafts! Kids can't take all the fun ^_^

Hope you have a good rest of the day!

Weekly Ideas?

Okay so I need to get this back on track.
The blog was meant to let me put ideas down.
Somewhere I can look back to
and say, "Hey I got to do that!"

I have been wanting to DO more.
Get more out of my life.
So far I think it's been good.
I like the idea of doing challenges once in a while.

But one of the things I really wanted to do
was post DIY's I saw around the net
and try and do them.

Document outings so that I make myself
step out that door more.

And just post little things that I love.

So I think to get me to do more of this
I should start weekly or monthly postings.
I just need to figure out I want it to be.

I love the Stuff I Luff posts from Lazy Explorers.
She chooses so many cute things to post on these.

A Beautiful Mess' monthly wishlists are also wonderful.
Their At Home series is also so nice to look through!
I am probably more inclined to these since I am currently not at a place of my own and itching for spaces like these.

Also a fave Polish and Sugar's outfits of the week.
I think this might be easier to do than a daily outfit post.
Her Single Girls Cook feature is also inspiring.

So my conundrum after a wonderful couple of days
 relaxing at Reno?
An idea for a continuous feature on here...

I guess I'll get started on that.

ANY IDEAS?!
